Electronic DRS Program

Car Dealer and Customers

Offer this valuable new convenience to your customers at no cost to you.

Licensed Nevada dealers can electronically transmit the Dealer Report of Sale (DRS) information to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Customers of participating dealers can then register their newly-purchased vehicle online rather than going to the DMV. Customers can choose to receive new license plates or to transfer their current license plates and use applicable credits. The registration certificate, decal and license plates (if any) are mailed to the registered owner.

The titling documents are still required to be submitted to the Titles Section; that process has not changed.

Requirements

  1. Must be a Nevada licensed dealer.
  2. Must have a computer with a broadband internet connection. EDRS can be integrated with popular dealer management systems or DRS information can be entered on a website.

Process

  1. Contact a Compliance Enforcement Division (CED) office in Las Vegas or Reno. CED will then provide the forms to be completed:
    1. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and
    2. Letter of Authorization for primary and secondary employees who will be using the EDRS Update for the dealership.
  2. Contact the vendor, Computerized Vehicle Registration (CVR), to have your dealer management system updated if needed.
  3. Return the completed forms to CED.
  4. CVR and a CED Investigator will provide training on the systems.
